About The Position

The Fire Sprinkler Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining water-based fire protection systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This role ensures that all work complies with NFPA standards, local fire codes, and manufacturer specifications while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in fire protection systems preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of fire sprinkler inspection, maintenance, or repair experience.
  • Solid knowledge of NFPA 25 and related fire protection standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret sprinkler system drawings and schematics.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills for service documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, and perform physical tasks in a variety of environments.
  • Work in conditions including active construction sites, warehouses, and occupied facilities.
  • Willingness to be part of an on-call rotation and work overtime or travel as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Level I or higher in Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification desirable.
  • State-issued fire sprinkler license (if applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 25 and local codes.
  • Conduct flow tests, main drain tests, valve inspections, and visual checks of system components.
  • Service and repair wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
  • Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions or upgrades.
  • Respond to emergency service calls for fire sprinkler system leaks, alarms, or malfunctions.
  • Locate and repair leaks, replace defective valves, heads, or piping.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to resolve service issues promptly.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding system status, repairs, and maintenance needs.
  • Provide written service reports and explain inspection results to customers.
  • Recommend improvements or system modifications when appropriate.
  • Complete all inspection forms, service tickets, and deficiency reports accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, state and local codes, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) when required for testing and approvals.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures while working in the field.
  • Maintain company tools, test equipment, and service vehicles in good condition.
  • Keep up-to-date with code changes, new products, and industry best practices.
