About The Position

Carroll Institute, a nonprofit substance abuse prevention and treatment facility serving the Sioux Falls area, is hiring a full-time Finance Clerk for its Finance Team. The role handles a range of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll duties and provides support to the Director of Finance & HR. The Finance Clerk also maintains confidential information in accordance with HIPAA and keeps accurate records in the Electronic Health Record system.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in two or more of the following areas: payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, outbound collections, or medical billing.
Ability to pass a background check, including a credit check.
Associate degree in accounting or a related field.
Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel and Office.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
High integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to think critically and understand and solve complex accounting problems.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Insurance claims experience, including rejected claims, EOBs, and payment entry.

Responsibilities

Follow up on overdue accounts, establish repayment plans, refer accounts to collections when needed, prepare monthly payer invoices, and enter payments.
Process vendor invoices and staff reimbursements, verify invoices, prepare check runs and electronic payments, and reconcile credit card and vendor statements.
Process bi-weekly payroll, review timekeeping, respond to employee payroll questions, and prepare 401(k) reports for the Plan Administrator.
Assist with month-end close, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and audits; provide backup support to the Director of Finance & HR.
Maintain confidentiality in line with HIPAA and keep accurate records in the Electronic Health Record system.
