About The Position

The Field Support Technician will be based at PerkinElmer’s Springfield, Illinois facility, primarily supporting Depot activities. The technician will train on Food product lines and support all products. The role includes repairing and performing routine maintenance on instruments in the Depot, as well as customer follow-up, phone and email support, field preventive maintenance, coordination of Depot service inventory and supplies, repacking instruments after repair or maintenance, and setting up new instruments before shipment. Instrument setup requires confirming requirements with customers.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent years of experience.
• Ability to work on multiple repairs at the same time.
• Troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Nice To Haves

• SQL Server experience managing databases on instruments.
• Computer skills using Outlook, Excel, Word, and ServiceMax.
• Ability to travel by air, vehicle, or other means as business requires; travel varies by territory and customer base and is typically up to 33% of the time.
• Valid driver’s license and safe motor vehicle operation.

Responsibilities

• Repair and perform routine maintenance on instruments in the Depot.
• Follow up with customers regarding estimates.
• Provide phone and email support to customers.
• Complete preventative maintenance work in the field.
• Coordinate service inventory and supplies for the Depot.
• Repack instruments after repair or maintenance for return to customers.
• Set up new instruments before shipment and confirm requirements with customers.
