About The Position

Harnish Group Inc. is hiring a Heavy Equipment Field Technician (Resident) for its Service Department at the Fairbanks, Alaska Branch. The role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, removing, assembling, and installing heavy equipment components and systems. The technician works with customers and may travel for extended periods. The listed salary range is $63.65–$67.65 per hour, with the hourly rate based on skills and experience.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent, graduation from a 2–4 year vocational technical school, or equivalent experience.
• Valid driver's license; the position may involve driving forklifts and operating equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, hoists, cranes, and pressure washers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook.
• Ability to stand for up to eight hours per day and perform twisting, bending, squatting, sitting, stooping, and kneeling.
• Flexibility to travel for extended periods to work with customers.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy construction equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working at a Caterpillar (CAT) dealership or with CAT products.
• Experience with CAT diagnostic equipment, CAT repair tooling, rigging, and blocking equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment, including removing, repairing, assembling, and installing components.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, powertrains, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
• Plan and organize work, with particular emphasis on controlling job costs.
• Investigate, analyze, and identify problems and recommend ways to eliminate them.
