About The Position

A Field Service Technician II at Doble Engineering will provide maintenance and technical support for Doble equipment at customer locations, including domestic and international locations. This role identifies and troubleshoots malfunctions and will conduct scheduled repairs. This role will be required to develop detailed service reports to document service visits and troubleshooting actions and logs to track maintenance activity. This role will be based at our Accident, MD office and will report to the Service Manager.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent training.
  • 1 – 3 years of related experience
  • Proper use of electrical test equipment to include oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and signal generators.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with customers.
  • Ability to travel to world-wide locations; passport required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds.
  • Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United Sates.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Experience with high voltage, high current test equipment.
  • Experience with Partial Discharge Systems.
  • Familiar and comfortable with international travel; passport required.

Responsibilities

  • Independent on-site analysis and repair of high voltage, high current test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot system faults on relay, PLC, and microprocessor-controlled equipment.
  • Remove and replace system components to accomplish repair.
  • Modify Programmable Logic Controller programs under the direction of the assign Automation Engineer.
  • Operationally check equipment after repair for serviceability.
  • On-site Calibration and Preventative Maintenance Service.
  • Use voltage and current supplies, kilovoltmeters, multi-meters, potential transformers, current transformers, and other equipment to calibrate high voltage, high current test equipment.
  • Perform preventative inspection and basic lubrication of equipment.
  • On-Site Training.
  • Perform practical, on-the-equipment training.
  • Answer questions pertaining to operation of equipment while testing customer’s test objects.
  • Provide training certificates.
  • Prepare and deliver quotations for varying customer service quote requests.
  • Prepare cost analysis and quotations for custom parts and upgrade requests.
  • Prepare quotations for stock parts and services.
  • Telephone Support.
  • Communicate with customers to assist with troubleshooting, repair, operation, and maintenance of high voltage, high current test equipment.
  • Responsible for the direct interaction with the customer.
  • They communicate with customers to know equipment configuration, maintenance status and coordinate final scheduling.
  • Make decisions regarding the replacement of faulty stock components on delivered test equipment.
  • Make modifications to system after acceptance from Service or Design Engineer.
