About The Position

The Field Service Mechanical Technician supports installations and service calls exclusively at GROB customer sites. The technician must be available to travel on short notice to locations designated by GROB. At customer sites, the technician performs the mechanical build and start-up of machine tool equipment. The position calls for strong mechanical aptitude, in-depth knowledge of metric prints, and an understanding of assembly technology and/or metal-cutting principles.

Requirements

High school diploma at minimum.
Understanding of drawings, schematics, and troubleshooting.
Ability to travel as required for business needs and on short notice.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment; self-motivated.
Full understanding of the metric system.
Strong math skills.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport.

Nice To Haves

NC programming experience.
Previous CNC machining or machine-building experience.
Previous experience with assembly equipment and robotic cells.

Responsibilities

Respond quickly to customer installation needs or problems, including emergency calls.
Assemble and start up new CNC machines to GROB specifications.
Assemble and start up assembly equipment.
Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, levels, indicators, and micrometers.
Read and follow mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical prints and drawings.
Read and follow tool layouts and NC code, including G-code and M-functions.
Troubleshoot machine errors.
