About The Position

Wärtsilä is seeking a Field Service Engineer to provide technical engineering support and carry out field service activities for its Energy business in the United States. The role is remote and involves significant travel, including work at customer power plants. The engineer performs hands-on troubleshooting and diagnostics to support reliable equipment operation and high-quality service delivery, following established procedures and guidelines. The position works with service colleagues, customers, external stakeholders, and internal teams to resolve technical issues and coordinate on-site activities. It also contributes field-based feedback to improve service processes and equipment performance. The role requires approximately 80% travel, including domestic and occasional international assignments, and extended periods away from the primary residence should be expected. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with Wärtsilä engines or similar large-bore engine platforms; preferred but not mandatory for junior-level candidates.

Responsibilities

Perform technical field service tasks, including advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and issue resolution, in accordance with established procedures.
Support the functionality and reliability of customer equipment by identifying technical issues and contributing to corrective actions with the service team.
Provide customers with technical support and guidance during service activities.
Coordinate on-site activities and timely service delivery with customers, external stakeholders, and cross-functional internal teams.
Escalate complex technical issues and support senior engineers or superintendents during service execution.
Provide feedback on service execution and equipment performance to help improve field service processes.
Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation in accordance with company policies and customer requirements.
Perform work in compliance with applicable safety, quality, and environmental standards.
