About The Position

Waters Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Field Service Engineer to provide on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for our advanced life science instrumentation and equipment across various client locations. This role ensures optimal performance and customer satisfaction with our cutting-edge technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related scientific/technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in field service engineering, preferably within the life sciences, biotechnology, or medical device industries.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex electromechanical and optical systems.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, pneumatics, fluidics, and software interfaces relevant to laboratory instrumentation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to fault diagnosis.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic software and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field-based role.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs and work in various laboratory environments.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installations, calibrations, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs of sophisticated laboratory instruments, including but not limited to, liquid handlers, mass spectrometers, sequencers, and cell analyzers.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently, often under pressure, utilizing schematics, diagnostic tools, and technical manuals.
  • Provide comprehensive training to customers on the operation and basic maintenance of installed equipment.
  • Maintain accurate service records, including installation reports, service logs, and expense reports, through our CRM system.
  • Manage and maintain a spare parts inventory, ensuring availability for timely repairs.
  • Collaborate effectively with sales, technical support, and R&D teams to provide feedback on product performance and customer needs.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, GMP).
  • Travel extensively, often on short notice, to customer sites within a designated region.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a primary technical point of contact.
