About The Position

The Field Installation Technician completes customer installations, service visits, on-site troubleshooting, and equipment recovery. The role combines physical installation work at customer locations with technical tasks, including updating databases. Technicians install and configure internet equipment and help restore service for existing customers. Work includes outdoor and elevated locations, and may involve travel, overtime, and on-call duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Professional dress, speech, and manner.
• Ability to work independently using sound judgment.
• Ability to set priorities, organize workload, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-change environment while managing interruptions and changing priorities.
• Desire to learn and interest in technology.
• Must pass a drug screening test and criminal background check.
• Ability to use tools to install equipment.
• Ability to move, transport, and position objects weighing at least 60 pounds frequently.
• Ability to climb ladders, rooftops, communication towers, and other elevated structures, including heights up to 200 feet; perform job duties at heights; and repeatedly pull own body weight plus equipment weight up roofs and vertical towers.
• Ability to use hand and power tools frequently.
• Employee weight and tools combined may not exceed the 300-pound limit specified by the safety equipment manufacturer.

Responsibilities

• Perform site surveys for potential customers to evaluate serviceability.
• Diagnose customer problems during service calls and restore functional service to existing customers.
• Install internet service for new customers using available technology, including mounting equipment at or above roof height and running Cat5-E or fiber-optic cable from outside to the customer’s desired location.
• Configure routers and customer computers to access internet services.
• Perform equipment upgrades for existing customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
