About The Position

The Field Installation Technician provides customer-facing installation and support for an Internet Service Provider delivering high-speed Internet and voice services. The role requires excellent customer service skills and technical ability. Work is performed at customer locations and includes customer installations, service visits, on-site troubleshooting, equipment recovery, and physically installing Internet equipment. The technician may work with the technology available at each location, including mounting equipment at or above roof height and running Cat5-E or fiber-optic cable from outside to the customer’s desired location.

Must pass a drug screening test and criminal background check.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe, acceptable driving record in compliance with company policy.
Ability to use tools to install equipment.
Frequently move, transport, or position objects weighing at least 60 pounds.
Ability to climb rooftops of all types and perform duties at heights, including climbing extended heights of up to 200 feet.
Ability to pull own body weight plus equipment weight up roofs and vertical towers repeatedly.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, sit, climb ladders and communication towers, and work in an elevated position.
Ability to use hand and power tools frequently.
Combined employee and tools weight must not exceed the 300-pound limit specified by the safety-equipment manufacturer.

Responsibilities

Perform site surveys to evaluate whether potential customers can receive service.
Diagnose customer problems during service calls and restore functional service to existing customers.
Install Internet service for new customers using the technology available, including mounting equipment at or above roof height and running Cat5-E or fiber-optic cable to the customer’s desired location.
Configure routers and customer computers for access to Internet services.
Perform equipment upgrades for existing customers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
