About The Position

Acuative is hiring a full-time, benefits-eligible Field Engineer II to provide installation and maintenance services for voice and data networks, servers, computer systems, retail technology systems, and other network-based hardware. The role primarily covers an assigned market area, but may require travel to locations four or more hours away to meet customer service-level agreements. Technicians are guaranteed 40 hours of pay per week, even if they are not dispatched for 40 hours. The company provides paid training and support for assigned jobs, including training in routers, switches, rack and stack, and structured cabling. Selected candidates must attend a hardware and cabling training course at Acuative’s Global Technology Center in Strongsville, Ohio. The role includes a company vehicle, gas card, and inventory. Technicians often work alone and must be willing to travel as needed. The position is mostly Monday through Friday, with opportunities for overtime and call-out pay after hours; on-call, after-hours, and weekend work may be required. Candidates must have a valid, clear driver’s license with no more than four points, be vaccinated against COVID-19, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds above their head and climb a ladder. Associate degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
Ability to operate basic power tools, such as drills and saws.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of networking hardware and topologies.
Familiarity with Cisco networking products and interfacing through Cisco CLI.
Understanding of VOIP, PBX, and key systems, with hands-on hardware and troubleshooting ability.
Knowledge of computer hardware and ability to provide desktop PC and/or server break/fix support.
Experience physically installing routers, switches, wireless access points, servers, POS systems, digital signage systems, and associated peripheral equipment.
Ability to configure a variety of technology platforms through console and remote applications.
Experience with LEC circuit identification and extensions.
Familiarity with cabling standards and ability to pull and terminate cabling in varied customer environments.
Experience installing Low Earth Orbit satellite equipment, such as Starlink, and/or fixed wireless antennas.
CompTIA, Cisco, cabling, or PBX system certifications.

Responsibilities

Install and maintain networking hardware, including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
Install and maintain telephony equipment and circuits.
Install and support retail technology systems, including point-of-sale systems, digital signage, and video surveillance systems.
Perform circuit extensions and structured cabling.
Conduct site surveys and site audits.
Install Low Earth Orbit satellite receivers, cables, and hardware.
Install fixed wireless antennas, cables, and hardware.
Submit all job-related documents and deliverables accurately and on time.
Maintain the company vehicle, inventory, and tools to departmental standards.
Travel as needed to meet customer service-level agreements.
Provide hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting support across customer technology platforms.
