About The Position

Analyze, review, negotiate, and settle commercial general liability property damage and construction defect claims of varying complexity with minimal supervision. The role uses investigation skills to analyze coverage, liability, and property damage. It is a fully remote opportunity for someone looking to enter property damage liability claim handling.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record consistent with the terms in SECURA's Fleet Vehicle Manual.
• Travel with overnight stays.
• Physical agility and mobility to move around effectively and safely within different locations, including policyholder property.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for an extended period of time.
• Knowledge of claims laws and coverages.
• Ability to effectively work from home.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and negotiating skills.
• Good keyboard and PC skills.
• Excellent organization and prioritization skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience preferred.
• 3+ years of previous property claims experience preferred.
• 2+ years of previous General Liability and construction defect claims experience preferred.
• Certificate in General Insurance preferred.
• AIC, CPCU, SCLA, CIC, or ARM designation(s) preferred.
• Knowledge of Xactimate estimating software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, review, negotiate, and settle commercial general liability property damage and construction defect claims of varying complexity with minimal supervision.
• Assist in agency management by providing feedback to Underwriting.
• Establish and monitor reserves to adequately reflect exposure, making appropriate changes as files develop.
• Provide outstanding customer service to all customers.
• Examine policy coverage forms and other records to determine insurance coverage.
• Conduct on-site inspections and interviews, as well as telephone and written correspondence, with claimants and policyholders.
• Work closely with the legal department on complex claims.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
