About The Position

Progressive is hiring an Auto Damage Claims Adjuster to serve as the point of contact for customers and direct decisions about vehicle repairs from start to finish. The adjuster manages an individual claim inventory independently, works with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing, and assesses liability. The position is field-based and includes access to a company car and frequent driving within an assigned geographical area. Adjusters may cover assignments outside their assigned area and may occasionally need to report to an office. Candidates must reside within 20 miles of the San Jose, California area.

Requirements

One of the following experience and education combinations: at least four years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; an associate's degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or a bachelor's degree and at least one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Must meet Progressive's driving standards and/or policies.
Must reside within 20 miles of the San Jose, California area.
Leadership and conflict-management skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total-loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolve claims without payments.
Review supplement requests and determine their validity.
