Field Claims Adjuster - Auto Damage - San Rafael, CA
About The Position
Progressive is hiring an auto damage claims adjuster to serve as its point of contact with customers and direct and make decisions regarding vehicle repairs from beginning to end. The adjuster manages an individual inventory while working independently and closely with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing and assess liability. The position is field-based, includes access to a company car, and requires frequent driving within an assigned geographic area. Adjusters may also cover assignments outside that area and may occasionally be required to report to an office. Candidates must reside in the San Rafael, California (Marin County) area. The role calls for leadership and conflict-management skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Requirements
- At least four years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; alternatively, an associate degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or a bachelor's degree and at least one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance, and compliance with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies.
- Must reside within the San Rafael, California (Marin County) area.
- Leadership and conflict-management skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total-loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
- Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
- Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
- Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolve claims without payments.
- Review and determine the validity of supplement requests.
