Field Claims Adjuster - Auto Damage - Salinas, CA
About The Position
Progressive is seeking an auto damage claims adjuster to serve as its point of contact with customers and direct and make decisions about the repair process from beginning to end. The adjuster manages an independent inventory, works closely with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing, assesses liability, and provides excellent customer service. Leadership, conflict management, and strong attention to detail are important for this role. This is a field position with access to a company car and frequent driving within an assigned geographical area. Workloads are assessed collectively, so the adjuster may cover assignments outside their geographical area and may occasionally be required to report to an office. The territory is Santa Cruz, California, with candidates sought from the Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Scotts Valley, Salinas, and Monterey areas.
Requirements
- At least four years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; alternatively, an associate degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or a bachelor's degree and at least one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
- Must comply with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies.
Responsibilities
- Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
- Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
- Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
- Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolve claims without payments.
- Review and determine the validity of supplement requests.
