Field Claims Adjuster - Auto Damage - Pacifica, CA
About The Position
Progressive is hiring an auto damage claims adjuster to serve as its point of contact with customers and direct and make decisions about the vehicle repair process from beginning to end. The adjuster manages an individual claim inventory and works independently, while coordinating with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing and assess liability. The role calls for leadership and conflict management skills, attention to detail, and a focus on excellent customer service. This is a field position with access to a company car and frequent driving in an assigned geographical area. Adjusters may cover assignments outside their usual area as workload requires and may occasionally be required to report to an office. Candidates must reside in the San Francisco, Daly City, Brisbane, South San Francisco, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, or Pacifica, California area.
Requirements
- At least four years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or an associate degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or a bachelor's degree and at least one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance, and compliance with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies.
- Must reside in the San Francisco, Daly City, Brisbane, South San Francisco, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo, or Pacifica, California area.
Responsibilities
- Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
- Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
- Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
- Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolve claims without payments.
- Review and determine the validity of supplement requests.
