About The Position

Sartorius is hiring a Field Application Specialist to support Ambr bioreactor technologies across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. The role helps customers select, evaluate, adopt, implement, and optimize upstream bioprocessing solutions by combining technical expertise, application knowledge, and customer partnership. The ideal candidate resides in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, or Delaware. The specialist supports customer evaluations, application assessments, technical consultations, application trials, validations, proof-of-concept activities, onboarding, and training. The position troubleshoots customer processes and product-performance issues, contributes technical insights and recommendations during opportunity development, and shares field feedback and competitive intelligence with Product Management and other stakeholders. It also supports complaint investigations with the Quality Department, trains colleagues and customers, assists with start-up operations, and provides monthly territory activity reports. This is a customer-facing role focused on external support and requires more than 50% travel. The stated salary range is $90,000–$116,530, depending on qualifications, plus a sales incentive plan and car allowance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.
At least 3 years of application support, technical support, field application, laboratory, process development, or related customer-facing experience in upstream bioprocessing environments, including Process Development, MSAT, cGMP Manufacturing, and/or Tech Transfer teams.
In-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience with Ambr bioreactors and associated customer workflows.
Ability to troubleshoot technical and application-related issues in customer environments.
Hands-on ability to conduct demonstrations, evaluations, trials, and customer training, and to document findings, outcomes, and recommendations in a structured manner.
Ability to collaborate with Sales, Product Management, Quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders in a matrix environment.
Strong customer orientation and ability to translate customer needs into effective application solutions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholder groups.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Willingness to travel more than 50% to support external customers.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree.
Experience in biologics or cell and gene therapy applications.

Experience with Salesforce, Tableau, and system control software.

Responsibilities

Support customer evaluations, application assessments, and technical consultations by translating process requirements into product and workflow recommendations; provide troubleshooting and training for upstream systems, including bioreactors, process analytical technologies (PAT), SCADA and automation solutions, and associated consumables.
Design, coordinate, and document customer-specific evaluation plans, application trials, validations, proof-of-concept activities, onboarding, training, and outcomes.
Troubleshoot customer processes and coordinate corrective actions to resolve technical inquiries, application challenges, and product-performance issues.
Contribute technical insights, competitive positioning, and solution recommendations throughout opportunity development.
Analyze field observations, trial outcomes, customer feedback, application trends, competitive intelligence, and product usage patterns; share actionable recommendations with Product Management and other stakeholders.
Support training for other Field Application Specialists and Sales colleagues on assigned technologies and processes.
Train customers on new technologies, support initial start-up operations, and participate in internal learning and team capability-building opportunities.
Support Quality Department complaint investigations by troubleshooting and analyzing customer processes.
Provide monthly reports to management on territory activities.
