About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, a Fiber Splicer develops new skills in a safety-minded environment while helping expand technology and provide quality service to customers and communities. The role produces end-to-end fiber optic networks and involves testing and troubleshooting network continuity, operating fiber-optic testing equipment, preparing splice enclosures, and working at outdoor utility construction sites. The position requires on-call availability and flexibility for varied shifts and overtime.

Requirements

At least 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
Must be able to work on call.
Comfortable working on a ladder or in a bucket truck.
Flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts and overtime.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and a track record of completing quality work.
Able to solve challenging problems and take a hands-on approach.
Enjoys working with a team.
MOS Codes V80B, B05A, 3D157, 6423, and 5699 relate well to this position.

Responsibilities

Produce end-to-end fiber optic networks.
Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
Operate testing equipment and resolve challenges common to fiber optic networks.
Prepare fiber splice enclosures, including Tyco, CommScope, and Corning enclosures.
Use fusion splicers and fiber-optic test equipment, including OTDR, 1310/1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, and power meters.
Apply knowledge of fiber design, documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
