About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Fiber Splicer helps build and expand fiber optic networks while working in a safety-minded environment and maintaining high-quality service. The role is responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks, testing and troubleshooting network continuity, and resolving common fiber optic network challenges. Work is performed at outdoor utility construction sites and may involve working on a ladder or in a bucket truck. The position offers long-term projects and a variety of shifts with overtime.

Requirements

At least 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
Safety-minded approach to daily work.
Track record of completing work to a high standard of quality.
Ability to troubleshoot difficult problems and take a hands-on approach.
Comfort working on a ladder or in a bucket truck.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and overtime.

Responsibilities

Produce end-to-end fiber optic networks.
Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
Operate fiber optic testing equipment and resolve challenges common to fiber optic networks.
Prepare fiber splice enclosures, including Tyco, CommScope, and Corning equipment.
Use fusion splicers and testing equipment, including OTDR, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, and power meters.
Apply knowledge of fiber design, documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
