About The Position

Fiber Network Services is a communications contractor providing fiber optic and cable network services to communications providers across several states and Washington, D.C. The company is hiring a Broadband Fiber Splicer for its Huntington/Culloden, West Virginia location. The role involves splicing, balancing, activating, and troubleshooting signal paths for new coax construction and business-as-usual projects. Typical coax sizes are .625 and .875. The splicer will also optimize nodes, work with harmonic nodes, and track daily work using digital methods such as email and Excel. The position involves 40–50 hours per week, outdoor work in varying weather, and occasional on-call after-hours emergency work.

Requirements

Knowledge of and safe use of aerial lift bucket trucks; ability to use ladders. The ability to climb/hook is optional.
Ability to work regularly outdoors in different weather conditions.
Ability to use a TDR.
Ability to communicate effectively and work within a team environment.
Ability to report to work every day at 7:00 a.m.
Ability to use email and Microsoft Excel for basic project tracking.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to pass a drug screening, background check, and DOT physical.
Ability to read and understand technical instructions.
High school diploma or GED.
3+ years of experience preferred.
Own hand tools, including coring tools, preferred; tools may be supplied depending on experience level.

Responsibilities

Splice, balance, activate, and troubleshoot forward and reverse signal paths for new coax construction and BAU projects.
Optimize nodes and work with harmonic nodes.
Track and report daily work using digital methods, email, and Excel.
Work safely within public rights-of-way and use applicable personal protective equipment.
Be available occasionally for on-call after-hours emergency work.
