About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Fiber Splicer produces end-to-end fiber optic networks while helping expand technology for communities. The role emphasizes high-quality work, safety, hands-on problem solving, and collaboration at outdoor utility construction sites. The Fiber Splicer tests and troubleshoots fiber optic network continuity, operates specialized testing equipment, and prepares fiber splice enclosures. The position offers compensation of $25.00 to $32.00 per hour.

Requirements

• At least 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfort working on a ladder or in a bucket truck.
• Safety-minded approach to work.
• Track record of completing work to a high standard of quality.
• Ability to solve challenging problems and take a hands-on approach.
• Willingness to work as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and overtime.

• Interest in long-term projects.

Responsibilities

• Produce end-to-end fiber optic networks.
• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate fiber optic testing equipment and resolve challenges common to fiber optic networks.
• Prepare fiber splice enclosures, including Tyco, CommScope, and Corning enclosures.
• Use fusion splicers and testing equipment, including OTDR at 1310 and 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, and power meters.
• Apply fiber engineering knowledge, including understanding fiber design, reading documentation, interpreting light levels, and understanding dB loss.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
