About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, a Fiber Splicer develops and produces end-to-end fiber optic networks while maintaining a commitment to safety and high-quality service. The role involves testing and troubleshooting fiber optic network continuity, using fiber testing and splicing equipment, preparing splice enclosures, and working at outdoor utility construction sites. Requirements

At least 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
Comfort working on a ladder or in a bucket truck.
Safety-minded approach to day-to-day work.
Track record of completing work to a high standard of quality.
Ability to solve challenging problems and take a hands-on approach.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and overtime.

Responsibilities

Produce end-to-end fiber optic networks.
Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
Operate testing equipment and resolve challenges common to fiber optic networks.
Prepare fiber splice enclosures, including Tyco, CommScope, and Corning enclosures.
Use fusion splicers and fiber test equipment, including OTDR at 1310 and 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, and power meters.
Apply knowledge of fiber design, read documentation, and understand light levels and dB loss.
Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
