About The Position

This entry-level, contract-to-hire role involves six months of work at an IES site at a Google Data Center construction site in Haskell, Texas. The technician installs data center cabling and equipment, including fiber optics, racks, and cable trays, and prepares equipment for installation in newly built data centers. The role is open to candidates with relevant military experience, candidates who have completed fiber optics or data center construction training, and candidates seeking to enter the fiber/cable data center industry. The position is fully onsite.

Requirements

Able to lift 50 pounds.
Able to work in construction spaces in heat and cold, both indoors and outdoors.
Able to work on large teams and follow instructions.
Self-starter who uses initiative and stays engaged in work throughout the day.
Candidates may qualify through former military experience and completion of a two-week fiber optics installation boot camp, completion of a fiber optics and data center building-phase training class, or interest in entering the fiber/cable data center industry.

Nice To Haves

Military communications, military background, or communication systems experience.
Experience or skills in cable, Cat6, fiber optics, fiber-optic cable, structured cabling, telecommunications, fiber splicing, installation, low voltage, data centers, or military maintenance.

Responsibilities
