Federal Solutions Engineer, West Coast
About The Position
Verkada is seeking a Federal Field Solutions Engineer based in the Western U.S. with experience in cloud security, IoT systems, networking, Linux systems, security surveillance, and access control. The role partners directly with territory account executives to expand Verkada’s presence among large enterprise customers, including Fortune 500 companies. The engineer interfaces with customers and partners throughout the sales process, addresses technical objections, helps design deployments using Verkada products, and provides technical assistance to territory account representatives. The position is suited to someone who learns quickly, works independently, and can deliver results remotely. The engineer serves as a technical authority on Verkada’s product suite, communicates product value to customers, helps secure technical wins, and presents solutions to audiences ranging from C-level executives to loss prevention managers and IT directors. The role also includes educating customers, partners, and internal employees about Verkada’s product offerings. Regular travel is required, estimated at more than 50% of the time, including domestic and international travel as needed.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Sales Engineer, with a proven track record working with Fortune 500 companies.
- Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills for clearly articulating technical matters to customers and partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or security field from an accredited university.
- Strong networking background, including HTTPS, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, NAT devices, DHCP, and firewalls.
- Experience in cloud security, IoT systems, networking, Linux systems, security surveillance, and access control.
- Must be independently authorized to work in the U.S.; Verkada is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role.
- Comfort with frequent travel, estimated at more than 50% of the time, including domestic and international destinations as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Industry certifications such as AWS, CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, MCSE, CEH, Security+, A+, Network+, Microsoft Azure, CISSP, or CSP.
- Experience with Active Directory, SAML/SCIM, APIs, Python, or other coding languages.
- Startup experience.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter authority on Verkada’s products and offerings and articulate their value to customers throughout the sales process.
- Overcome technical objections and help secure the technical win for Verkada.
- Present Verkada solutions to customer stakeholders, from C-level executives to loss prevention managers and IT directors.
- Train and educate partners, customers, and internal employees on Verkada product offerings.
- Partner with territory account executives to expand Verkada’s footprint with Fortune 500 companies.
- Interface directly with customers and partners throughout the sales process.
- Assist customers in designing deployments with Verkada products.
- Provide technical assistance to territory account representatives.
