About The Position

ProBerco is hiring a Family Support Services Direct Support Professional to provide in-home, recreational, and habilitative services to individuals who live with their families or independently in the community. This hourly role’s work hours vary according to the needs of the individuals served and may not exceed contracted hours unless authorized by the contracting agency. The position implements outcomes, follows ProBerco policies and procedures and each service recipient’s ISP, and meets applicable requirements of the recipient or their representative. The caregiver is expected to work professionally and compassionately in support of ProBerco’s mission.

ProBerco provides community participation, community living, and employment supports to people with disabilities. Program activities take place at multiple locations throughout Berks County.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and experience supporting adults with intellectual and physical disabilities in a community setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work with and relate to adults with intellectual and physical disabilities.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• Experience implementing outcomes and experience with documentation.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, remain open to other points of view, adapt to changing situations, manage time effectively, and ask for assistance when necessary.
• Ability to meet the listed physical requirements, including potentially lifting or moving more than 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide scheduled services in community settings and/or the service recipient’s home, including skill development or maintenance in activities of daily living, education, communication, sensory and motor skills, adaptive behavior, and social skills; recreational activities; and transportation to appointments and activities.
• Provide services in a supportive, caring, and safe manner while respecting each individual’s needs and differences.
• Promote independence and growth.
• Follow each service recipient’s ISP as written.
• Attend to service recipients’ physical needs, including needs requiring specialized training or procedures.
• Implement outcomes and follow ProBerco policies and procedures and service-specific requirements.
