About The Position

Docs & Dogs Family Medicine is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage for the following dates: September 7-11, 2026. This is a locum opportunity in Sydney, Nova Scotia, within the Eastern Zone. The role involves providing comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages in a supportive and collaborative outpatient family medicine clinic. The clinic operates from 9 AM to 3 PM and offers excellent clerical support, a dedicated nurse practitioner (NP), part-time social work (SW) and dietitian services, and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) support.

Requirements

• all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
• all family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
• membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)

Responsibilities

• delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
• work with other providers in the clinic to provide cross coverage and same day access
• utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members

Benefits

• guaranteed daily minimum income of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 or half-day)
• additional shadow billings if above amount is exceeded.

• travel expenses (including air fare up to $1,500)
• travel time up to 10 hours per week
• licensing fees for College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSNS)
