About The Position

Fall River Family Practice is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage from August 24th to September 4th, 2026. Locum physicians are responsible for providing coverage for family practices, which may include inpatient and nursing home care, as well as specialist hospital and office coverage as requested. The practice is a large, collaborative healthcare clinic with a team of 11 physicians, two family practice nurses (FPNs), and experienced clerical staff. They utilize the MedAccess electronic medical record (EMR) system and are implementing an online booking option.

Requirements

• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
• Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
• Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for family practices.
• Provide inpatient and nursing home care.
• Provide specialist hospital and office coverage as requested.

Benefits

• Minimum daily income guarantee of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 for half-day), with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount.
• Reimbursement for travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500).
• Reimbursement for travel time up to 10 hours per week.
• Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered.
• Locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.
