Locum - Family Medicine - Cheticamp
About The Position
Cheticamp Medical Clinic is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage from June 1st to December 31, 2026. Locum physicians provide coverage for family practices, including inpatient and nursing home care, as well as specialist hospital and office coverage as requested. The clinic offers a supportive and collaborative environment with experienced clerical staff, a dedicated family practice nurse, and access to social work services. The practice serves a diverse patient population with a wide range of healthcare needs, providing an opportunity for meaningful, full-scope family medicine in a close-knit community setting. Opportunities for inpatient and emergency department coverage are available but are not mandatory.
Requirements
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
Responsibilities
- Provide coverage for family practices
- Provide inpatient care
- Provide nursing home care
- Provide specialist hospital coverage as requested
- Provide specialist office coverage as requested
Benefits
- Minimum daily income guarantee of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 for half-day)
- Additional earnings if shadow billings exceed the guarantee
- Reimbursement for travel expenses (kil=`ometrage, per diems, accommodations up to $300 per night, airfare up to $1,500)
- Reimbursement for travel time up to 10 hours per week
- Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered
- Locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions
