About The Position

The Family Peer Support Specialist engages, inspires, and encourages participants and their families, families of choice, and natural supports to actively support participants’ recovery plans. The role provides supporters with information, education, and resources so they can better support their loved one, whether that person lives independently or in a family home. As part of an integrated service team, the specialist promotes and reinforces Telecare’s Recovery Culture, as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS). This approach recognizes, understands, respects, and integrates participants’ and supporters’ viewpoints and preferences into services and self-help programming. The specialist also responds to critical situations using high-level engagement and de-escalation skills to support a least restrictive environment for participants experiencing a behavioral health emergency. The position is based at Telecare Riverside Mental Health Urgent Care, which offers 24/7 voluntary treatment to adults ages 18 and older experiencing a mental health crisis who wish to avoid a locked setting. The program uses a welcoming, home-like environment to assess crises, provide comfort, and connect individuals with resources to help avoid future crises. Services are recovery-oriented and delivered by a multidisciplinary team with a high level of peer-to-peer services. The listed schedule is short-hour PM shifts, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Friday and Saturday. Expected starting wage is $23.00; pay ranges vary by geographic location, and starting pay may reflect relevant experience above minimum requirements.
