About The Position

Maine Family Planning is seeking a full-time Family Nurse Practitioner to provide services for their Mobile Medical Unit for Central Maine. This position involves four days a week: three days providing services in the Mobile Medical Unit out in the community and one day a week working in a clinic. The Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) Family Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with Family Planning staff to provide healthcare with an emphasis on quality sexual and reproductive health services, primary care services, harm reduction services, and wound care. As required by the State of Maine, the MMU Family Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the supervision of unlicensed clinical staff and ensures that clinical services are performed safely and correctly. The role also involves ensuring that clinical services are provided in a patient-centered and non-judgmental manner, collaborating with patients to meet their healthcare and reproductive goals, demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge, practicing evidence-based medicine, and providing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination. The position requires adherence to Maine Family Planning policies, clinical protocols, and Maine State Laws, Rules, and Regulations, while providing care within the established scope of practice and promoting the mission of Maine Family Planning.

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse License in the State of Maine.
3-5 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (unless approved as an NP in Maine prior to January 1, 1996).
Maintain valid DEA registration.
Obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number.
Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Basic computer knowledge.
Bi-annual license renewals must be processed, completed, and submitted two weeks prior to expiration date.
Maintain continuous certification and submit evidence of recertification on or before the certification expiration dates.

Responsibilities

Provide healthcare with an emphasis on quality sexual and reproductive health services, primary care services, harm reduction services, and wound care.
Supervise unlicensed clinical staff and ensure clinical services are performed safely and correctly.
Ensure clinical services are provided in a patient-centered and non-judgmental manner.
Collaborate with patients to help them meet individual healthcare and reproductive goals.
Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination.
Follow Maine Family Planning policies and clinical protocols.
Promote the mission of Maine Family Planning.
Adhere to Maine State Laws, Rules and Regulations and provide care within the established scope of practice.
