About The Position

Cordell & Cordell is seeking a Family Law Paralegal in Charlotte, North Carolina. The role supports attorneys and clients in family law matters, including divorce, custody disputes, and child support. It involves case management, legal document preparation, and professional, compassionate communication to help clients navigate emotionally sensitive legal proceedings.

Requirements

At least 3 years of family law paralegal or legal assistant experience.
Associate degree in paralegal studies or equivalent.
Excellent typing skills and computer literacy, including a solid understanding of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Proficiency with legal software and case management systems, such as Smart Advocate, Clio, MyCase, or similar systems.
Ability to focus on details, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative, approachable demeanor.
Professional presence and ability to interact confidently with clients and colleagues.
Reliable transportation and ability to work onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Proactive mindset and willingness to go above and beyond on simple requests to make things easier for others.

Responsibilities

Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
Prepare financial disclosures, child support worksheets, parenting plans, and related documentation.
Manage case calendars, track deadlines, and ensure timely filings.
Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
Edit draft documents to incorporate client changes and prepare documents for signing.
Handle sensitive client information with discretion, care, and accuracy.
Complete assigned tasks accurately and promptly while meeting agreed-upon deadlines.
