About The Position

Youth Villages is hiring a Family Intervention Specialist for its Intercept® program in Durham, North Carolina. Intercept is an evidence-based, intensive in-home program designed to help keep families together by preventing out-of-home placements or supporting reunification after placements such as foster care, residential treatment, hospitalization, or juvenile detention. The program serves youth from birth through age 18 who face serious emotional or behavioral challenges or have experienced trauma, including abuse or neglect. Specialists provide services in families’ homes and communities, not in an office, using strength-based support and evidence-based mental health interventions to help families achieve lasting change and develop parenting and communication skills. The specialist carries a caseload of four to six families, holds individual and family sessions three times per week with scheduling based on family availability, and conducts ongoing strength-focused assessments. The role includes weekly individual, team, and clinical consultation meetings; collaboration with providers, case workers, and courts; on-call crisis support; and timely documentation in an electronic medical record. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional. The position requires driving to families’ homes and communities, potentially 60 to 80 miles, with additional travel possible. Community-based staff are reimbursed for applicable mileage. The advertised salary is $58,000–$66,000, based on education and clinical license. Applicants must meet one of the listed education-and-experience pathways or hold a qualifying North Carolina associate clinical license. Youth Villages describes itself as a national organization with more than 5,000 staff, serving more than 47,000 youth, young people, and families annually across 29 states and Washington, D.C.
