About The Position

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Neurology, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center are seeking a Neurovascular/ Stroke Neurologist at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor, tenured, in the tenure stream and outside the tenure stream. The qualified candidate must successfully graduate from a neurology residency training program, complete fellowship training in Vascular Neurology/ Neurovascular Medicine, and demonstrate excellence in training activities. The position will serve patients at the UPMC Stroke Institute and other locations as determined by the Chairman. Candidates must be qualified for medical licensure in Pennsylvania and meet the requirements necessary for a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh. Requirements

  • Medical degree – MD, DO, or foreign equivalent
  • Board Certified or board eligible in Neurology
  • Fellowship training in Vascular Neurology/ Neurovascular Medicine
  • Qualified for medical licensure in Pennsylvania
  • Meet the requirements necessary for a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh
  • Three or more years of experience in related scientific research (for Assistant Professor)
  • Ability to obtain external research funding (for Assistant Professor)
  • Disseminated results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums (for Assistant Professor)
  • Significant teaching experience (for Assistant Professor)
  • Capacity for sustained career development, promotion, and tenure (for Assistant Professor)
  • Five or more years of experience in related scientific research (for Associate Professor)
  • Independent, external research funding and a substantial record of peer-reviewed publications (for Associate Professor)
  • Significant teaching experience (for Associate Professor)
  • Capacity for sustained, impactful, and independent scholarly contributions and leadership (for Associate Professor)
  • Served five to seven years as Associate Professor (for Professor)
  • Attained authoritative knowledge and reputation in a recognized field of learning (for Professor)
  • Achieved effective teaching skills (for Professor)
  • Attained superior stature in their field through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learned organizations (for Professor)
