Facility Custodian - Weekend Day Shift (Thur-Sun)
About The Position
The Facility Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and efficient work environment across production areas, offices, warehouses, and common spaces. The role supports daily operations by performing routine cleaning, sanitation, light maintenance, and seasonal deep-cleaning tasks, while following safety protocols and reporting maintenance needs or safety concerns. The custodian works independently and with the Facilities & Workplace Experience team. The position may require use of a scissor lift for high-level cleaning, maintenance, or repairs; SendCutSend will provide appropriate training and certification for required equipment. The work takes place in office, manufacturing, and production-floor environments, with possible exposure to noise, moving machinery, metal materials, heat, and varying temperatures. Required protective equipment must be used on the production floor. The role may involve working near equipment that generates strong electromagnetic fields, which may pose a risk to people with pacemakers, ICDs, or other implantable medical devices. Schedule: Thursday through Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of janitorial experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment such as floor cleaners, pressure washers, and shop vacuums.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Willingness to take initiative and help where needed.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills to work across teams and departments.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Consistently reliable and punctual.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk consistently for 8-hour shifts.
- Ability to bend, reach, and work around large industrial equipment.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and reach overhead.
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of custodial experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1 year of experience with industrial cleaning equipment.
- Experience in a fast-paced, multi-shift manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, break rooms, conference rooms, common areas, and warehouse areas.
- Perform light maintenance, including painting and simple repairs.
- Operate industrial floor cleaners, shop vacuums, pressure washers, and other cleaning equipment.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in office and production areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the facility.
- Restock restroom, kitchen, and custodial supplies as needed.
- Clean windows, doors, walls, and other interior surfaces as needed.
- Perform seasonal and routine deep-cleaning tasks.
- Report maintenance needs, safety concerns, and damaged equipment to appropriate personnel.
- Follow safety protocols and cleaning procedures, including proper handling and storage of cleaning supplies.
- Maintain the exterior, including entrances, sidewalks, smoking areas, and outdoor common spaces.
- Clean, dust, or change filters in high-mounted ceiling vents and return air grilles.
- Remove dust, cobwebs, or debris from high ceilings, exposed rafters, and large overhead fans.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including tasks that support the Facilities & Workplace Experience team.
