Facility Custodian - Weekday Day Shift
About The Position
The Facility Custodian helps maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment across production areas, offices, and common spaces. The role involves working independently and with the team to uphold sanitation standards, complete light maintenance, and report maintenance needs, safety concerns, or damaged equipment. Duties may include cleaning high-mounted vents, ceiling areas, and overhead fans. The custodian may need to operate a scissor lift for work that cannot be safely reached using standard ladders or extension poles; SendCutSend will provide appropriate training and certification for required equipment. The work takes place in office, manufacturing, and production-floor environments, with possible exposure to noise, moving machinery, metal materials, heat, and varying temperatures. Required protective equipment must be used on the production floor. The position may also involve working near equipment that generates strong electromagnetic fields, which may pose risks to people with pacemakers, ICDs, or other implantable medical devices. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of janitorial experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment such as industrial floor cleaners, pressure washers, and shop vacuums.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Willingness to take initiative and help where needed.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills to act as a bridge between team members and departments.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Consistent reliability and punctuality.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to consistently stand and walk for 8-hour shifts.
- Ability to bend, reach, work around large industrial equipment, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and reach overhead.
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of custodial experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1 year of experience with industrial cleaning equipment.
- Experience in a fast-paced, multi-shift manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, break rooms, conference rooms, and common areas.
- Complete light maintenance tasks, including painting and simple repairs.
- Operate industrial floor cleaners, shop vacuums, pressure washers, and other cleaning equipment.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors in office and production areas.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout warehouse areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the facility.
- Restock restroom, kitchen, and custodial supplies as needed.
- Clean windows, doors, walls, and other interior surfaces as needed.
- Perform seasonal and routine deep-cleaning tasks as needed.
- Report maintenance needs, safety concerns, and damaged equipment to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow safety protocols and cleaning procedures, including proper handling and storage of cleaning supplies.
- Maintain the facility exterior, including entrances, sidewalks, smoking areas, and outdoor common spaces.
- Clean, dust, or change filters in high-mounted ceiling vents and return air grilles.
- Remove dust, cobwebs, or debris from high ceilings, exposed rafters, and large overhead fans.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including tasks that support the Facilities & Workplace Experience team.
