Face to Face Interpreter – Swahili
About The Position
Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is hiring a Swahili-language interpreter to provide in-person interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments. This is face-to-face work, not video or telephone interpretation. Interpreters use their bilingual skills to assist people who speak Swahili and can earn more by accepting more assignments. This contractor role offers a self-directed schedule. Assignments are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year-round, though most are requested during business hours. Interpreters may accept as many or as few available assignments as they choose. The company welcomes applicants without prior professional interpretation experience and those who speak English as a second language.
Requirements
- Be located in the Central Ohio area.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be eligible to work in the United States.
- Pass a federal criminal background check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening.
- Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training from an accredited program.
- Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
- Speak English and Swahili.
