The Server/Banquet Server supports restaurant and banquet operations by keeping tables and serving areas clean, orderly, stocked, and ready for service. The role includes assisting other servers, setting tables according to company policy and event needs, keeping beverage dispensers supplied, and changing table service between breakfast and dinner requirements. Servers also seat guests, answer menu questions, take and serve food and beverage orders, respond to customer requests, and provide courteous customer service. They collect and process payments, close and balance the cash register, bus used dishes and utensils, and clean surrounding work areas. Other duties may be assigned. Work takes place in hotel banquet and conference rooms, the restaurant, and kitchen serving and dishwashing areas. Work surfaces may be cement, tile, carpet, or wood; cooking areas have anti-slip floor mats. Most areas are well lit and ventilated. The position may involve limited exposure to high or low temperatures near grills, ovens, and walk-in refrigeration. Shifts vary with facility needs, and both full-time and part-time positions are available. Overtime is required as needed.
