About The Position

Kemper is hiring an entry-level Express Adjuster to investigate and resolve first- and third-party auto physical damage claims in a fast-paced, in-office setting. The role involves attempting immediate contact to confirm and review coverage and is performed under direct supervision. The position is based in Birmingham, Alabama; Doral, Florida; McAllen, Texas; or Downers Grove, Illinois.

The Express Adjuster handles claims from intake through investigation, valuation, exposure establishment, and settlement within stipulated monetary authority. Claims must be resolved promptly, equitably, and economically in accordance with policy provisions and the damages presented. The adjuster takes statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses, maintains timely and accurate reserves, and provides a high-quality customer service experience to internal and external customers.

The stated pay range is $18.56 to $31.46. Candidate offers may account for experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location. The role is eligible for Kemper benefits, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and a 401(k).

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months of entry-level claims handling or claims intake experience, or a college degree of 2 or more years in lieu of experience.
• Obtain and maintain a valid insurance adjuster’s license when required for the location and claim assignment; a license is required for McAllen and Birmingham.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a team-oriented approach.
• Basic computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Passion for delivering outstanding customer service to agents and customers.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual Spanish.
• Experience in non-standard auto.

Responsibilities

• Handle assigned claims from intake through investigation, valuation, exposure establishment, and settlement within stipulated monetary authority.
• Conclude assigned claims promptly, equitably, and economically in accordance with the policy contract and the damages presented.
• Take statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses to investigate losses.
• Set and maintain claim reserves accurately and on time.
