About The Position

The Experienced Tree Climber trims and removes trees and limbs that are unwanted, diseased, or dying, or when work is needed to protect tree health and the safety of surrounding areas. The role performs tree pruning and removal services for clients as an active crew member, working with ground crew and a crew leader. Work includes climbing trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems. The position is based on site in Columbus, Ohio, with travel expectations of up to 25%.

Requirements

Love of the outdoors.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights.
Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

Perform pruning, thinning, and deadwood removal throughout tree canopies.
Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
Remove hazardous trees.
Properly maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
Work as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and the crew leader.
Perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
