About The Position

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an experienced climbing arborist to join its tree care team in Olathe, Kansas. This is an on-site, year-round position. The work is outdoors and involves climbing trees to perform canopy care and maintenance, along with supporting other crew members in completing job-site work safely and effectively. Employment is permanent and full time, with travel expectations of up to 25%. Pay depends on experience and certifications, with rates listed up to $25/hour and $30/hour; higher rates may be offered to candidates who hold a CDL. Requirements

At least 1 year of tree-climbing experience.
Understanding of and ability to safely ascend tree canopies at all heights.
Certified Arborist, or willingness to work toward certification.
Strong tree, knot, and shrub identification skills.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Valid provincial driver’s license.
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

A license to drive a 5-ton vehicle and an Airbrake endorsement are considered assets.
Background in forestry, horticulture, or landscaping.
CDL; higher pay rates may be offered to candidates who hold one.

Responsibilities

Prune, thin, and remove deadwood from tree canopies at various heights.
Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
Properly maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
Assist trimmers and the foreperson with job-site setup, debris removal, and cleanup.
Climb trees as part of tree-care work.
Follow Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
