About The Position

The Apparel Lead oversees the apparel department, helps ensure excellent customer service, and supports sales and financial goals through inventory management, merchandising, and seasonal strategies. The role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, but supports the apparel team and business performance while helping create a positive member experience.

The Apparel Lead maintains apparel presentation and cleanliness in accordance with BJ’s Gold Standards, executes planograms and promotional activity, manages stock and markdowns, and communicates opportunities to improve the department. The role may also include duties in other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2–3 years of retail experience, preferably in soft lines, apparel, or fashion.
• Task-oriented, reliable, and goal-setting.
• Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service and resolving customer issues.
• Familiarity with merchandising principles and experience executing planograms.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high presentation and cleanliness standards.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Ability to frequently stand and move on hard surfaces.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist members, answer questions, resolve concerns, and support a positive shopping experience.
• Oversee inventory levels, conduct stock checks, and coordinate with Club Leadership to maintain product availability.
• Keep backstock organized and easy to replenish to the sales floor.
• Execute clearance, salvage, and markdown activity as communicated through My Work to support sell-through goals.
• Implement and maintain planograms, visual merchandising, apparel tables, and displays according to current guidelines.
• Ensure displays are attractive, organized, stocked, accurately signed, and compliant with BJ’s Gold Standards.
• Keep product organized and stacked to the correct heights, using BJ’s Connect to stay current with company expectations.
• Ensure promotional events and signage are visible, accurate, and executed on time.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Train, influence, motivate, and support the apparel team in meeting sales goals and maintaining performance standards.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on visual merchandising and presentation standards.
• Provide feedback and communicate ways to improve the member experience and business.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
