Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)
About The Position
Dental365 is hiring an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant for Polit & Costello Dentistry in Pittston, Pennsylvania. The role supports the Dentist during procedures and helps provide patients with comfortable, compassionate care in a modern dental practice. Duties include taking digital radiographs and intra-oral scans, preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment, preparing operatories, following OSHA and other safety policies, educating patients on oral hygiene, and helping with office tasks as needed. The practice describes its culture as supportive and focused on health over sales, without production-quota pressure. The listed schedule is Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.; and Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. The salary range is $29–$32 per hour and may vary based on experience. Benefits are available based on employment status; the posting states that all benefits are available to full-time employees working 30 or more hours weekly, with some also available to part-time employees.
Requirements
- Prior dental assisting experience.
- An active EFDA license in good standing.
- Any certification or license required by the state to perform specified duties.
- A resume demonstrating a consistent and stable employment history.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to deliver exceptional patient experiences.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and help them feel comfortable and confident throughout their visit.
- Support the Dentist with various procedures.
- Take digital radiographs and intra-oral scans as prescribed.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment to maintain infection control.
- Sanitize and prepare operatories for treatments.
- Follow OSHA and safety policies.
- Educate patients on effective oral hygiene strategies as needed.
- Perform diverse office tasks as needed to support practice operations.
