About The Position

This position requires competency in both housekeeping and laundry functions. Although normally assigned to one function, individuals in this job must be competent and willing to perform the duties of the other function as directed. The role is responsible for cleanliness and proper sanitation of resident apartments and community common areas, detailed cleaning of resident rooms, and preparing empty rooms for move-ins. It also includes laundering linens, drapes, and residents’ personal clothing within the assigned area of service. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. The position involves frequent interaction with residents, family members, and visitors, exposure to cleaning chemicals, and possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens, bodily excretions, and communicable diseases.

Requirements

Three to six months of experience in housekeeping and/or laundry procedures; medical facility experience is preferred.
Ability to complete tasks using a checklist operation schedule.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, 45 pounds frequently, and 22 pounds constantly.
Ability to stand, walk, and grasp constantly; stoop and reach above shoulder height frequently; and sit, crawl, kneel, and squat occasionally.

Responsibilities

Dust and polish furniture, picture frames, mirrors, and other items in rooms.
Wash and disinfect countertops and sink areas according to specified procedures.
Mop and disinfect bathrooms and floors, and vacuum carpeted areas.
Refill paper products and soap dispensers and empty trash.
Vacuum and mop common areas, nursing stations, hallways, medication rooms, and utility rooms.
Clean common areas and public bathrooms on each unit.
Perform detailed cleaning assignments as directed.
Ensure washing and drying machines are used consistently.
Collect, sort, wash, dry, and fold residents’ personal clothing, linens, rags, and mop heads.
Deliver clean personal items to the appropriate resident.
Perform other duties as assigned.
