About The Position

This position is for an Educational Support Professional (ESP) to work in the Step Up To Kindergarten Summer Discovery Academy. The role involves ensuring a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment for students. Responsibilities include monitoring students, assisting teachers with instructional programs, and providing one-on-one support. The position requires technological proficiency with Google Suite and adherence to school policies. This role is contingent on funding and student enrollment.

Requirements

  • Passing Score on the Para Pro Test or other state approved assessment program or completion of 360 Professional Training Points
  • Associate Degree or 60 Credit
  • Technological proficiency using HPS credentials to access Google Suite including Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Documents and Spreadsheets, and Google Meets.
  • Working knowledge of classroom management: how to motivate students, how to discipline, how to reinforce what you teach.

  • Prior experience with children in a school or similar setting.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in pre-program training, including asynchronous online orientation and an All-Staff Meeting via Google Meet.
  • Monitor individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment.
  • Greet students at the bus and/or parent drop-off before school and escort them at the end of their daily session.
  • Implement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Assist teachers for the purpose of determining students' needs and conveying information to configure the class into teams, groups or pairs for special activities.
  • Help individual students feel comfortable in the classroom.
  • Work with students one-on-one, answering questions and providing extra skills practice when necessary.
  • Possess a working knowledge of classroom management: how to motivate students, how to discipline, how to reinforce what you teach.
  • Have technological proficiency using HPS credentials to access Google Suite including Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Documents and Spreadsheets, and Google Meets.
  • Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the teacher, principal, supervisors/directors, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
  • Must work the required hours during the summer school days.
