About The Position

This position is for a Teacher in the Step Up to Kindergarten Summer Discovery Academy. The role involves teaching assigned students with the goal of achieving quantifiable results and accelerated learning. The teacher will plan daily lessons, assessments, and intervention practices, and will collaborate with other teachers for planning, evaluation, and professional development. The position requires accommodating diverse learning styles and needs, developing students' interpersonal and communication skills, and enforcing standards for work, effort, and behavior. The teacher will also maintain enrollment and attendance records and fulfill other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or School Committee. The position is contingent on funding and student enrollment and requires full participation in the summer program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Licensed in the grade level and or subject for which you are applying by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education – preferred
  • Demonstrated effective outcomes in advancing student learning in Mathematics and / or ELA.
  • A minimum of two years teaching with recommendation form current principal or supervisor.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in pre-program training, including asynchronous online orientation and an All-Staff Meeting via Google Meet.
  • Teach assigned students with quantifiable results.
  • Plan daily lessons, exit tasks, formative assessments and intervention practices that demonstrate accelerated learning.
  • Work with other teachers for common planning, program evaluation, and professional development.
  • Use appropriate practices, including tiered instruction and scaffolds, to accommodate differences in learning styles, needs, interests, and levels of readiness, including those of students with disabilities and Multilingual Learners.
  • Develop students’ interpersonal, group, and communication skills and provide opportunities for students to learn in groups with diverse peers.
  • Clearly communicate and consistently enforce specific standards for student work, effort, and behavior.
  • Maintain enrollment and attendance records.
  • Responsible for other duties as indicated by directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designees; and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
  • Must be present for the entire summer school program.
