About The Position

This position is for an ESP Rising 1-4 Summer Discovery Academy role within the Haverhill Public Schools. The role is contingent on funding and student enrollment and will run from July 6, 2026, to July 30, 2026, with trainings in June. The workdays are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm at Nettle Middle School. The position involves assisting in the implementation of enrichment and recreational activities using project-based learning, incorporating Social and Emotional Learning practices, and modeling effective effort for students. The role also includes assisting with program evaluation, accompanying students on field trips, and utilizing Google Suite for technological tasks. The position requires adherence to school policies and working the specified hours.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • CPR and First Aid Certified
  • Technological proficiency using HPS credentials to access Google Suite including Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Documents and Spreadsheets, and Google Meets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of enrichment and recreational activities, which will enable all students to progress toward meeting intended program outcomes using project-based learning.
  • Participate in pre-program training, including an asynchronous online orientation and an All–Staff Meeting via Google Meet.
  • Participate in in-person Professional Development specific to the unit you will be assisting in.
  • Incorporate Social and Emotional Learning practice in daily activities to create learning experiences that guide students to identify their strengths, interests, and needs; ask for support when appropriate; take academic risks; and challenge themselves to learn.
  • Clearly communicate and consistently enforce specific standards for student work, effort, and behavior.
  • Effectively model and reinforce ways that students can master challenging material through effective effort, rather than having to depend on innate ability during enrichment programs.
  • Assist with program evaluation by taking and administering the Survey of Academic and Youth Outcomes at the start and end of the program/student enrollment period and by using that and other data collected from the program, school and district to inform planning and instruction.
  • Accompany students on field trips.
  • Have technological proficiency using HPS credentials to access Google Suite including Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Documents and Spreadsheets, and Google Meets.
  • Responsible for other duties as indicated by directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designees; and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
  • Must work the required hours during the summer school days.
