About The Position

The Equipment Shop Mechanic at Rogers-O'Brien Construction plays a vital role in maintaining and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of equipment and tools. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment to ensure the machines are functioning optimally, supporting the company's operational efficiency and safety standards. Working closely with managers, the Equipment Shop Mechanic is accountable for ensuring that all company-owned tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in excellent working condition. This role supports Rogers-O'Brien's commitment to quality service and safety, upholding the company's core values in all aspects of the job.

Requirements

• Proficient in written and verbal communication for effective daily reporting
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in shop or field heavy equipment repair
• Ability to self-manage and work with limited supervision, using independent judgment effectively
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Strong attention to detail to ensure quality repairs and maintenance

Nice To Haves

• Preferably a blend of mechanic and driver skills, though not required

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment systems, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems, to ensure reliability and safety
• Travel to various customer jobsites to conduct on-site repair and maintenance, enhancing customer satisfaction and equipment uptime
• Troubleshoot and execute complex repairs both in the shop and in the field, addressing issues such as pumps, hydraulics, engines, transmissions, HVAC, and electrical systems
• Manage parts by ordering necessary components and returning unused items to maintain inventory efficiency and cost-effectiveness
• Maintain open and transparent communication with the Regional Equipment Manager to ensure alignment and effective problem-solving
• Handle a diverse range of equipment, including small engines, trucks, backhoes, manlifts, rough terrain and warehouse forklifts, light towers, and utility vehicles
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed in line with Rogers-O'Brien's safety and quality standards, contributing to the overall success of the team
