About The Position

The Equipment Manager position for the Grand Rapids Gold focuses on managing the daily logistics concerning player equipment and practice facility usage. This role involves overseeing the distribution of branded merchandise, performing all laundry-related tasks for team gear, and ensuring the practice facility is prepared for the team's arrival. The manager will also be responsible for purchasing equipment, preparing new players with necessary gear, and assisting with game day preparations.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma required; college degrees preferred.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at time of hire.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of fiscal management.
  • Knowledge of athletic equipment and uniform repair.
  • Understanding the importance of working with the Grand Rapids ownership group.
  • Having a multi-faceted skillset using the latest technologies and equipment available to the Gold.
  • Ability to have a creative, agile mindset in dealing with players.
  • Ability to function as a team member in a competitive environment and collaborate with others.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Physical ability to travel with the team.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be capable of walking or standing 80% or more during a typical shift.
  • Must be capable of frequently carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 100lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the distribution of Gold-branded merchandise to players and staff.
  • Perform all laundry-related tasks, including the collection and cleaning of all used practice gear and distribution of gear.
  • Ensure the practice facility is prepared in advance of the team’s arrival, including hydration setup, inflated basketballs, and mopping the court as necessary.
  • Purchase equipment as necessary through the league office via Nike.
  • Ensure newly-acquired players are prepared, including names on their jerseys and correct sizes for practice.
  • Assist in game day preparation, including bench setup, locker room setup, and laundry needs as necessary.
