HOSPITAL BILLING ANALYST- SCH EPIC
About The Position
The Epic Hospital Billing (HB) Analyst is responsible for designing, building, implementing, and maintaining the Epic Hospital Billing application. The role partners with revenue cycle, finance, and clinical stakeholders to improve billing workflows, ensure accurate charge capture, optimize reimbursement, and support regulatory compliance. The analyst uses Epic tools to enhance system functionality, troubleshoot issues, and improve operational efficiency. The position is primarily onsite at South Central Regional Medical Center and may require occasional evening or weekend support and participation in on-call activities as needed.
Requirements
- Epic certification in Hospital Billing, or ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire.
- At least 2 years of experience with Hospital Billing, insurance payers, CPT coding, or related billing functions.
- Knowledge of CMS regulations, coding standards, and payer billing requirements.
- Strong understanding of revenue cycle operations and healthcare billing practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Strong time-management, analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodations as required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Epic HB or other Epic modules.
- Previous experience with EHR implementation or optimization projects.
- At least 2 years of experience supporting Epic PB or similar billing systems in a healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Build, configure, test, and maintain the Epic Hospital Billing module.
- Analyze billing workflows and design Epic solutions to optimize revenue cycle processes.
- Gather requirements from operational stakeholders and translate them into Epic configurations.
- Support implementation and upgrade projects, including testing, training, go-live support, and stabilization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Hospital Billing system issues.
- Monitor and evaluate system performance.
- Perform audits to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Provide on-call or after-hours support as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between IT and revenue cycle departments.
- Participate in cross-functional teams, project meetings, and organizational initiatives.
- Create and maintain build specifications, workflow documentation, job aids, and training materials.
- Support testing for new functionality, upgrades, and workflow changes.
