About The Position

The Environmental Service Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, handling cleaning chemicals, removing waste, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and clean working environment in compliance with infection control guidelines. This role involves working indoors and occasionally outdoors, using cleaning chemicals, and potentially working at heights with a ladder. The position is part-time, 20 hours per week, with a schedule detail of 7 am - 3:30 pm, working one shift every other weekend (EOW).

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting, sanitizing, washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, and refinishes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpet.
  • Re-stocks restrooms and replaces light bulbs.
  • Reports necessary repairs.
  • Assists with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof, which may involve the use of a ladder.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers, and finishes.
  • Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles.
  • Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or mechanical issues.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, and infection control guidelines.
  • Meets departmental quality standards.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes, including safety update programs.
